Walsh reappointed by Sligo

Kevin Walsh will continue as Sligo senior football manager for the 2013 campaign, following his reappointment at a County Board meeting last night.

It will be Walsh's fifth season with Sligo. Outgoing selector Paul Durcan is continuing in his role alongside new selectors PJ Langton and Tommy Craddock.

Langton, a former selector during Tommy Breheny's managerial reign, and well-known strength and conditioning coach Craddock will replace Dessie Sloyan and Paul Taylor.

Walsh has guided Sligo to two Connacht SFC final appearances in three years - they lost by two points to Mayo in last summer's provincial decider - and they have also risen from Division 4 to Division 2 of the Allianz League during his tenure.

In addition, the former Galway All-Ireland winner has steered the Sligo junior team to Connacht and All-Ireland titles in recent years.

Walsh has decided to remain in situ after meeting with the players and Sligo GAA officials recently.

There were initial doubts over Walsh's managerial future as it took quite some time to get to the ratification stage - it was three months ago that Kildare knocked Sligo out of the All-Ireland qualifiers.

But with everything finally in place, all parties are happy to proceed as the Yeats men look to renew their efforts to win silverware, including that elusive Nestor Cup, next term.
