Three new selectors to assist Counihan

Cork senior football manager Conor Counihan has added three new selectors to his backroom team for the 2013 season.

The recently reappointed Counihan, who is embarking on a fresh two-year term, is continuing in his managerial role alongside outgoing selector Peadar Healy.

The fresh faces are Mike 'Haulie' O'Neill, a selector with the Cork minors this past season, former Rebels minor boss Brian Cuthbert and Ronan McCarthy who was corner back on the Cork team that reached the 1999 All-Ireland SFC final.

The trio will replace Ger O'Sullivan, Jim Nolan and Terry O'Neill who all stepped down recently due to a variety of reasons - including work commitments and the length of time served.

Healy from Naomh Abán has been on board as a selector with Counihan since his first season in charge back in 2008.

Bishopstown clubman Cuthbert served as Cork minor manager in 2010 and 2011, winning the Munster title and reaching the All-Ireland decider in his second year.

The primary school principal is the current chairman of the county's GAA development squads management committee.

This is 'Haulie' O'Neill's second stint as a senior selector. He was previously part of Larry Tompkins' management panel back in 1997. He coached his home club Clonakilty to a Cork SFC title success three years ago.

McCarthy, meanwhile, has done some very good work with the Cork development squads of late, having managed his native Douglas to their first county final appearance in 2008.
