Sheedy and O'Sullivan named as Munster interpro bosses

Former Tipperary All-Ireland winning hurling manager Liam Sheedy and Ger O'Sullivan of Cork have been named as the Munster hurling and football managers respectively for the upcoming M. Donnelly Interprovincial Championships which begin next month.

Munster face Leinster in the semi-final of the hurling competition at Nowlan Park, Kilkenny on Sunday, February 19, with the Munster Council choosing a formidable backroom team under Sheedy.

Waterford's Stephen Frampton and Jamsie O'Connor of Clare will be Sheedy's selectors, while former Tipperary senior hurling coach Eamon O’Shea will be involved in a coaching capacity.

Sheedy’s managerial CV is already an impressive one, and along with that prized All-Ireland SHC title in 2010, he has also had success with the Premier County at intermediate and minor level.

Munster have won the interprovincial hurling title on a record 44 occasions with John Mullane (Waterford) captaining the province to their last title in 2007.

Meanwhile, Ger O'Sullivan will have Limerick manager Maurice Horan and John Kennedy of Kerry as his selectors for the football semi-final meeting with Leinster on Sunday, February 19 at Parnell Park.

O'Sullivan guided Munster to their last Interprovincial success in 2008, when the victorious side was captained by another Corkman Nicholas Murphy.

O'Sullivan hails from the Dromtarriffe club and has won National League, Munster and All-Ireland honours as a selector with Cork under Conor Counihan in recent years.

Munster have won the interprovincial football title on 15 occasions.
