Moran set for fourth year with Leitrim
Mickey Moran has been reappointed as manager of the Leitrim senior footballers, following a special meeting of the Leitrim County Committee.
Moran's men failed to impress during the Allianz Football League this season, but they reached the last-four of the Connacht Championship with a memorable win over Sligo.
The majority of the Leitrim delegates voted in favour of keeping the Derry native in the managerial hot seat, with only four voting against him.
Leitrim GAA Chairman Joe Flynn said that he has consulted with all of the players who were present for the All-Ireland qualifier against Down last month, and Moran was given 100% approval from them.
Selector Barney Breen will continue in his supporting role, but fellow selector Martin McGowan is stepping down after a 14-year involvement with Leitrim teams.
Flynn praised McGowan's 'total dedication and significant contribution' to Leitrim GAA and wished him well for the future.
He added that all players 'deemed good enough for the panel', including those who were dropped for disciplinary reasons this summer, will be invited to be part of next year's squad.
The Beirne brothers, Conor and Tomas, and Wayne McKeon were all dropped by the Leitrim management earlier this summer, having breached the players' charter.
Speaking after the qualifier defeat to Down, Moran insisted: "We're on an upward curve if I could put it like that, and if we can keep these young players, have a stab at the fourth division and get promotion, it would mean the world to them."
