Dubs defer team announcement as Kearney tears cruciate
An MRI scan on the injuries Conal Keaney sustained in a traffic accident this morning have shown up cruciate ligament damage.
The Dublin hurler was riding his motorbike to work when he was accidentally struck by a van.
He was taken to Tallaght Hospital and X-rays revealed a cracked bone in his ankle, which rules him out of Dublin's All-Ireland SHC quarter-final against Limerick on Sunday.
But worse news followed with the MRI scan confirming that the Ballyboden St Enda's clubman has torn his cruciate ligament.
Commenting on the loss of such a key forward, Dublin manager Anthony Daly said: "Conal has been immense since transitioning from football at the start of this year.
"Our thoughts and best wishes go to him and we are all relieved that his injuries were not more serious.
"It is a huge blow for Conal and a huge blow for Dublin as we attempt to reach the All-Ireland semi-final for the first time over in 60 years."
Due to Keaney's sudden absence, Daly has opted to defer his team announcement until matchday on Sunday.
