Despite losing the Allianz National Hurling League Division 1 final, Cork's senior hurlers have something to celebrate about - they have won €10,000 for their Panel Development Fund after topping the GAA's Hurling Fair Play Index.

During their eight-game NHL campaign, Cork players received just 12 cautions - at an average of 1.50 per game - which saw them top the Fair Play table, with Waterford in second place.

The Rebels were only shown 12 yellow cards during the league, with none of their squad receiving a red card.

This was just one less card than was received by second-placed Waterford.

Beaten Division 2 finalists Clare and Division 1 winners Galway were also extremely disciplined throughout their campaigns and finished in joint third place.

Cork begin their Munster Championship bid against Tipperary on Sunday, May 30 at Semple Stadium.
