Concerns about GAA violence after video shows Tipp assault

Concerns have been raised over the increase in violence shown towards referees during GAA matches.

A YouTube video posted on the internet in the last week shows an assault on a Tipperary referee by a match supporter.

The mobile phone footage has been viewed more than 7,000 times.

Referee Willie Barrett was struck twice with a hurley during the championship clash between Carrick Davin and Ballingarry.

Gardaí have launched an investigation into the incident.
