Daly adds Teehan to Dublin backroom team
Former Offaly player Vincent Teehan will join new manager Anthony Daly in the Dublin backroom staff for the new season.
Teehan, who teaches at St. Declan's in Cabra, has a strong coaching pedigree in the capital with stints with Kilmacud Crokes and county champions Ballyboden St. Enda's.
He also guided the combined Dublin Colleges side to All-Ireland glory in 2006.
Commenting on where he feels Dublin currently stand in the inter-county hurling pecking order, Daly said: "I reckon, at the moment, realistically there's a top tier consisting of one (Kilkenny).
"There is probably a second tier, where Tipperary were last year under Liam Sheedy, and a few teams fancy they would be at the Tipp level. And Dublin, at the minute, are just below that.
"Last year Dublin came very close to beating Wexford – and looking at Wexford, they ran Waterford close. Kilkenny are out ahead of everybody and it's up to us to step up a level, and hopefully we can do that over the two years."
Daly, Clare's All-Ireland-winning captain in both 1995 and 1997, has high hopes for the current Dublin panel but admits that the early focus has to be on Walsh Cup and National League performances and their much-anticipated Leinster championship date with Antrim.
"I wouldn't be putting any limits on where it can go. We are 250/1 to win the All-Ireland, let's face facts.
"I'm not saying that to make excuses, and I would never hold back on what can be achieved. It depends on how the players react. Where I see it going is trying to get over Antrim, and maybe tearing into the Walsh Cup and National League first," he added.
