Donaghy and Fitzpatrick win monthly GPA awards

Kerry footballer Kieran Donaghy and Kilkenny hurler James 'Cha' Fitzpatrick have won the Gaelic Players Association's monthly awards for September.

Donaghy has been named Footballer of the Month after leading Kerry to All-Ireland victory over Mayo.

Fitzpatrick, meanwhile, was a powerhouse in the Cats' midfield as they ended Cork's hopes of winning the hurling crown for a third year in succession.
