Alan Brogan drove St. Oliver Plunkett's to victory in the Dublin club championship last night, but his evening was soured when he suffered a suspected broken wrist.

The Dublin forward tallied up 1-2, including a brilliant sixth-minute goal, to inspire Plunkett's to a 3-11 to 1-6 win over Ballinteer St. John's in a fiery fourth round tie.

Brogan, whose younger brother Bernard was also forced off with injury in the bruising encounter, was taken off at half-time after complaining of shoulder pains.

On further examination, the problem was found to centre around one of Brogan's wrists, which will undergo a scan in the coming days. An eight week lay-off is a possibility.

The injury looks set to keep the former All-Ireland Under-21 winning captain out of the International Rules Series for the second year running. An ankle injury prevented Brogan from travelling Down Under last year.

Ireland manager Sean Boylan has yet to finalise his panel for the 2006 Tests, but Brogan seemed certain for a call-up after emerging as Dublin's most consistent forward during their run through to the All-Ireland semi-finals.
