Galway secure last-minute win

Galway left it late to ensure their first win of the NFL Division 1B in Newbridge today.

Matthew Clancy hit the winner, three minutes into injury-time, to edge the Tribesmen past wasteful Kildare.

The hosts were left kicking themselves as they hit 10 first half wides, however they still led by 0-04 to 0-01 in the early stages.

Points from captain Padraig Joyce (0-02) and Clancy got Galway back level by the 47th-minute.

Tadhg Fennin, Ronan Sweeney and Padraig O’Neill then sent the hosts 0-08 to 0-05 in front, but Joyce (two frees) and Derek Savage made it 0-08 apiece before Clancy’s killer blow.
