Final to push attendance mark to 1.3 million

Sunday's Bank of Ireland All-Ireland SFC final is expected to push total attendance figures at this year's football championship beyond the 1.3 million mark.

A sell-out crowd of over 82,000 is due at Croke Park to witness the squaring off of 2003 winners Tyrone and reigning champions Kerry for the Sam Maguire Cup.

The total attendance at the provincial championships and All-Ireland qualifiers reached almost 900,000.

Boosted by the Dublin-Tyrone replay, the All-Ireland quarter-finals attracted 227,000 spectators while the semi-finals drew 105,000.

That brings the turnout to date to 1,232,000.

Interest for Sunday's decider has reached fever pitch with the two counties not having met in an All-Ireland SFC final since 1986.

A bid of €1,843 has currently been tabled on auction website eBay for a pair of tickets - currently in the possession of an Armagh man - for the lower Cusack stand.
