Galway's Farragher to sit out training

Prodigious Galway attacker Ger Farragher will sit out training this week due to a slight hamstring problem.

Farragher, who has hit 3-48 in the Tribesmen's sensational run to Sunday week's All-Ireland hurling final, will rest up to avoid aggravating his hamtring before the September 11 clash with champions Cork.

The Castlegar man, who made his championship debut back in 2002, has become the fulcrum of the Galway attack in the enforced absence of Athenry ace Eugene Cloonan.

Galway boss Conor Hayes is also monitoring the fitness of seniors Niall Healy and David Collins, who lined out in last Saturday's All-Ireland Under-21 semi-final win over Cork.

The underage duo have a busy few weeks ahead with their Under-21 final date coming seven days after the seniors' Croke Park meeting with Cork.
