All-Star Muldoon winning fitness battle
Derry manager Mickey Moran names his team for Saturday's All-Ireland SFC qualifier against Laois tomorrow night, and lynchpin forward Enda Muldoon is eyeing up a starting role.
Muldoon, although pencilled in to start, missed Derry's third round win over Limerick on July 17 due to a hamstring injury, but his participation in two training sessions last weekend sparked rumours of his immediate return.
Derry's attacking options will certainly be boosted if the big Ballinderry marksman lines out.
The Oak Leafers were reliant on the Bradley brothers, Paddy and Eoin, for all bar four of their thirteen points against Limerick.
Oak Leaf chiefs are also awaiting confirmation on the availability of sidelined trio Kevin McCloy (hand), Fergal Doherty (ankle) and Francis McEldowney (knee ligaments).
Doherty looks a likely replacement with Patsy Bradley and Johnny McBride having formed a solid partnership at centre field last time out.
Meanwhile, Longford have been drawn to play NFL Division One finalists Wexford in the semi-finals of this year's Tommy Murphy Cup.
The second-tier competition's latest draw also sees Roscommon or London paired against Tipperary or Antrim in the other semi.
Roscommon and London play out their round two tie at Dr Hyde Park this Saturday, while seven days later, Tipp are scheduled to meet the Saffrons.
