'Mossy' to point way for Dublin
Dublin have never lost a final to Laois in the 117-year-long Leinster football championship, and Blues boss Paul Caffrey believes Tomas "Mossy" Quinn could split the sides again on Sunday.
St Vincent's marksman Quinn has come of age in this year's championship - scoring 0-16 (0-10f, 1 sl, 1 '45) in Dublin's two matches to date and making the notorious free-taking role his own.
Quinn also pocketed 4-23 in a fruitful seven-match league campaign and Caffrey is counting on another cracking Croker performance from the corner forward, who slammed over ten points last time out against Wexford.
"Dublin had been looking hard for a consistent free-taker and Tomas Quinn has been that player," said Caffrey at yesterday's final preview in Dublin.
"He has been around for a few years and kicks his frees very well off the ground. He was very consistent in the National League. Some days were better than others and there was never any question of Tomas being benched after the Meath game. We have great faith in our players in every position."
Quinn was wayward with a number of attempts in the quarter-final clash against Royals, ending up with just a single point to his name, but Caffrey reckons his players can stand up to the 2003 champions Laois on Sunday and deliver.
"This is a big challenge for us. We're not looking beyond this match - it's match four in our series this year and we are simply looking for further consistency in our performance.
"That has been the key for us so far this year. The idea of blowing hot and cold and not knowing what was coming next is something we have tried to avoid so far," added the former Na Fianna boss.
"If that consistency is there again this weekend then we should be in with a decent shout of winning."
The capital side have only claimed two Leinsters in the last ten years, and their silverware-starved supporters are hungry for a 45th senior provincial title.
