Kelly: Rule 42 decision could mean more funding
The President of the GAA, Sean Kelly, has said the Association could benefit from more Government funding now that the controversial Rule 42 issue has been rectified.
However, he said the decision would not be used as a bargaining chip in any talks with Taoiseach Bertie Ahern.
Speaking in the wake of Saturday's historical vote to amend Rule 42 to open up Croke Park to other sports while Lansdowne Road is under redevelopment, Mr Kelly stressed funding was never a factor in the debate.
However, he added: "If there are extra funds, we will not say no. I would think we are in a stronger position after this than if it had been rejected."
