Fennin helps Kildare overcome Down

Kildare proved too good for Down in Newry this afternoon as Tadhg Fennin goaled in their defeat of the Mourne men.

Fennin struck after only ninety seconds, and the Lilywhites led 1-09 to 0-06 at the break with Johnny Doyle and Ross Glavin showing good form.

Dan Gordon, Ronan Sexton and Ronan Murtagh kicked Down's overs.

Substitute Benny Coulter banged over three points in the second half, but his contribution was dwarfed by Doyle's haul of nine.
