Inter-county hurling transfers 'a possibility'
President of the GAA Sean Kelly has said he would not rule out the prospect of hurlers transferring from stronger counties to so-called "weaker" ones in an attempt to increase standards in the code.
Kelly said the idea of players no longer active with their own county lining out for an emerging county should be looked at. However, he said the number of such players should be limited to one or two.
Kelly made his comments yesterday at the launch of the Tier Two (Christy Ring) and Tier Three (Nicky Rackard) hurling championships at Croke Park.
A committee that Kelly established for weaker counties is set to meet in the new year and Kelly said it would be discussed.
He said: "It would be a great boost to Tier Two and especially Tier Three counties, even to have one notable name from another county."
