Australia claw back three aggregate points

Ireland 23 (100) Australia 26 (67), Croke Park, 2.10pm.

Australia have gained just three aggregate points on Ireland as they lead the International Rules second test by 26-23 at Croke Park.

An improved display from Garry Lyon's side saw them hit eight overs and two behinds in the first half - with Nathan Brown, scorer of 17 points last Sunday, hitting four overs.

Ireland have managed six overs and five behinds with Laois' Tom Kelly, Sydney Swans Tadhg Kennelly, Mayo's David Heaney, Kerry forward Paul Galvin and Wexford attacker Mattie Forde amongst the scorers.

Before the game, the Australians deliberately tried to ruffle Irish feathers with a physical approach, particularly targeting Mayo forward Ciaran McDonald.

Both Aussie skipper James Hird and Galway's Joe Bergin were yellow carded in the eraly stages, with Mayo's Heany sin-binned in the final minutes for a high challenge on Luke Ball.

A dog also interrupted proceedings for the first seven minutes, chasing the ball and winning it on two separate occasions.

Ireland currently lead 100 to 67 on aggregate.

Referees: M Collins (Ire) and S McBurney (Aus)
