GAC suspends Cork and Laois players
The GAC has fined the Cork and Laois County Boards €5,000 each for their parts in the brawl that developed in the aftermath of the All-Ireland MFC quarter-final drawn encounter at the Gaelic Grounds in Limerick a fortnight ago.
The committee has also suspended a number of players and officials from both sides.
In the case of Cork, the GAC suspended Andrew O'Sullivan for 12 weeks and Michael Shields for eight weeks. Raymond O'Ciara, who was not a member of the squad that day has also been suspended for eight weeks. Meanwhile, Cork selector Keith Ricken was banned from involvement with any team for 48 weeks.
In Laois's case, Eoin Culliton and Brendan Quigley were handed 12-week suspensions, Mark Delaney was banned for eight weeks, while Kieran Delaney and Adrian Whelan, who were not panellists that day, but who are part of the Laois minor development squad were also suspended for eight weeks.
The game, which ended in a draw, has been rescheduled for Thurles next Sunday at 2pm.
