Na Fianna fail in High Court

Dublin champions Na Fianna are out of the Dublin SFC after the High Court threw their appeal out this afternoon.

Mr Justice Thomas Smith ruled that the case of Na Fianna, who were dismissed from the championship for fielding an extra substitute in their quarter-final win over Raheny, against their county board had no place in a High Court.

He ruled that the case was not a legal matter but a football matter and, as such, should be settled outside the court. Na Fianna then signaled their intention not to pursue the case in the Supreme Court.

As a result the semi-final tie between UCD and Raheny is free to go ahead on Sunday morning at 11am in Parnell Park.
