GAA: Ballinderry win Ulster SF club final
Derry's Ballinderry have won the Ulster club final at Casement Park.
They defeated Down champions Mayobridge 1-10 to 1-07.
Mayobridge opened the scoring through Glen McMahon, and the sides
exchanged points until the 13th minute when Ballinderry began to edge out
in front.
Points from Darren Conway and Conleth Gilligan put the Derrymen two
points clear.
Mayobridge answered with two points from Michael Walsh to level the sides
at four points apiece on 23 minutes.
Ballinderry again edged in front and led by three at the interval.
Within seven minutes of the re-start Mayobridge scored a goal and a point
to take the lead for the first time since the opening minute.
A point from Michael Walsh and a goal from Glen McMahon put them 1-05 to
0-07 ahead.
However, their lead was shortlived as 60 seconds later Enda Muldoon
blasted to the net.
Ballinderry extended their lead by a further two points but Mayobridge
pulled one back through Ronan Sexton.
Darren Conway put the Derry champions four ahead on 48 mins.
A consolation point from Ronan Sexton left the a clear goal between the
sides, but Mayobridge were unable to make up the deficit.
To add to their woes, Mayobridge had Darragh Tighe sent off with two
minutes of normal time remaining after he kicked Ballinderry's Declan
Bateson after the forward stopped him from taking a quick free.
