The GAA has defended its decision to increase general admission prices to hurling and football league games from £5 to £7.

The GAA has defended its decision to increase general admission prices to hurling and football league games from £5 to £7.

The association said its Central Council had decided to up charges in order to cover increasing costs and said its prices compared favourably with those of other sporting events.

The statement follows the condemnation of the move by Waterford County Board treasurer Tony Morrissey ahead of Sunday's NHL home clash with Derry.
