GPA still intent on changing football championship format

The Gaelic Players Association will again attempt to change the structure of the intercounty senior football championship at next year’s Congress.

Just days after the GAA’s chief decision makers gathered in Carlow for their 2016 housekeeping, the players body says it will now devote much of its energy in the coming months towards re-addressing the ongoing championship fixtures crux.

While satisfied measures were taken to address player burnout last weekend, GPA CEO Dessie Farrell told the Irish Examiner the players’ voices now needed to be heard in other areas.
