Brilliant Blackrock sweep aside anxious Duhallow

Blackrock 1-21 Duhallow 0-8: Blackrock collected their third Cork U21AHC title in four years – their fifth overall — at Páirc Uí Rinn last night.

Last weekend’s drawn game produced a dramatic finish with Duhallow forcing a replay, but this contest was well over before the final whistle, with Blackrock’s much improved performance putting the game beyond Duhallow’s reach.

There were changes to both teams — goal hero from the drawn match James Fitzpatrick replaced Garrett Linehan who missed out due to a red card while Ciarán Cormack started for Blackrock. And with far more urgency in their play it was Cormack’s brilliant goal in the 11th minute that set Blackrock on their way — a fabulous fetch and a bullet to the net.
