The Horsewood clubman was unable to make a commitment to new manager David Power as he is returning to America.

“When I contacted PJ he was unable to commit. He is returning to America and looking towards travelling. He will not be part of the 2015 set-up,” said Power.

After Wexford bowed out of the 2014 championship campaign, Banville along with a number of his colleagues spent the summer months in New York, before returning home to assist their club’s in the latter stages of the county championship.

Banville was a part of the Kerry team that won the American footballchampionship in Gaelic Park.

New Manager David Power must also plan without Daithí Waters, the St Martin’s midfielder sticking by anearlier decision to concentrate on hurling in 2015.

“Daithí Waters as of now will play hurling. That is the position as it presently stands.

“The door is always open. It’s never closed and that is the position for all players including Daithí,’ he said.

Wexford will also be without last year’s captain Graeme Molloy and Anthony Masterson for next Sunday’s O'Byrne Cup opening round game against DIT at Gorey.

Molloy is recovering from a knee operation, as is Castletown’s Conor Carty.

Masterson has recently undergone surgery for a hernia.
