Sars finish strongly to see off Drom-Inch

A huge weekend of senior hurling activity saw the Tipperary SHC championship reduced to the last eight, and while there were no major upsets, there were some very significant results, not least the victory of Thurles Sarsfields over Drom-Inch.

Sars finish strongly to see off Drom-Inch

This game attracted 3,020 fans to Semple Stadium and they were not disappointed as Sarsfields finished powerfully to see off 14-man Drom-Inch who had county man James Woodlock red-carded after only 20 minutes but still dominated to lead 0-14 to 1-7 at half-time.

Lar Corbett, who was Sarsfields’ hero, scoring 2-3, got the goal after 17 minutes as Thurles struggled to cope. Despite Corbett’s second goal for Sars in the 41st minute, Drom- Inch were still ahead by four points with 10 minutes to play. Then Pa Bourke set up Richie Ruth for Sarsfields’ third goal, followed by a Michael O’Brien point to level.
