Upperchurch-Drombane’s bid for a first Mid Tipp SHC title ended in agonising disappointment at Littleton yesterday as they lost to Drom-Inch by 2-19 to 1-21 after extra-time.

A huge weekend of senior hurling activity saw the Tipperary SHC championship reduced to the last eight, and while there were no major upsets, there were some very significant results, not least the victory of Thurles Sarsfields over Drom-Inch.

Hamilton High School secured a first-ever Dr Harty Cup win as they beat Coláiste Chríost Rí in their Group C opener at Ballygarvan.

It will be a time for bridging gaps as the Dr Harty Cup gets underway today, albeit with a more truncated fixture list than usual.
