Cork chairman Bob Ryan claims the county’s opposition to the new hurling penalty interpretation has been justified.

Earlier this year, the GAA amended the interpretation of the rule on penalties to prevent takers encroaching inside the 20m line before striking the ball.

Pressure had grown to made a change as there had been opposition in some quarters to the style of Cork penalty-taker, goalkeeper Anthony Nash.
