Cracking Ulster stalemate

Two bouts of extra-time could not separate the Down and Derry hurlers in an incredible 3-28 to 5-22 Ulster SHC semi-final draw in Clones yesterday.

Cracking Ulster stalemate

Derry staged a remarkable comeback in the last quarter of normal time, having trailed by 10 points with 12 minutes to go.

The sides were level at half-time but Down’s third quarter charge left Gerry Monan’s side within reach of an Ulster final clash with Antrim. However, Down were held scoreless for the remainder of the game as Derry hit 2-4 without reply as the sides finished level, Down with 3-16 to Derry’s 4-13, after the 70 minutes.
