Flak in Tipp bugs Maher

It’s been touched on a few times in the last week, the pressure being brought to bear on the Tipperary senior hurling team by an expectant and demanding public.

This week however, as they prepare for an Allianz Hurling League quarter-final against Cork in Thurles tomorrow, team captain Brendan Maher opened up and revealed just how destructive that pressure can be and how it has affected him personally.

“We always kind of say ‘Ah sure it’s the same in every county’ but I don’t know, the last few years the amount of stuff that’s been said to me, the things that are flying around, I find it hard to believe that it is as bad in other counties,” he said.
