Half of all national league games operate at a loss
It emerged yesterday the Carlow County Board had ended up with a final taking of just €70 following a recent hurling league game. The GAA’s head of games administration and player welfare, Feargal McGill, points out that outside of the top divisions many games struggle make a profit at all.
“It’s something people don’t realise,” he said, “there are massive costs associated with holding league games.
