Dream start powers five-goal Two Mile House to glory

The winners, without injured Kildare player Peter Kelly for almost the whole game, had a dream start with two goals inside the opening six minutes. They then hit the net three times in an eight minute spell in the second-half to secure the county’s first All-Ireland at this grade. Mark Sherry drilled the ball low into the Canal End goal in the fourth minute after a good run and pass from Chris Healy. Two minutes later, a goalkeeping blunder allowed Adam Burke to fist the ball home to put them six points up.
Fuerty were slow to settle but picked off some lovely points and hit seven in a row to take the lead, albeit briefly, after 23 minutes. After Gearoid Ennis’ free – the only point in the opening half hour that was not scored from play – Fuerty fired over six unanswered points in 12 minutes to wipe out their opponents’ two goal cushion.
