The Central Council opted to maintain the status quo for 2014 and Dunne expressed disappointment that Michael Burns’ 12-team proposal was rejected, claiming the uproar which enveloped the proposed changes could have been avoided were it not for Cork’s alleged interference.

“In fairness to Jimmy Barry-Murphy, he came along a fortnight ago and said he was happy with the agreed league structure [for 2014]. If Jimmy Barry-Murphy had come along two months ago and had said that, there wouldn’t have been all these meetings up in Croke Park about the structures,” Dunne told Wexfordgaa.ie.
