Cork turn on style to power into semis
The Leesiders ran out 4-21 to 3-5 winners and now face Clare in the semi-final in a fortnight.
Julia White notched up an early goal for Cork but Derry battled back with Karen Kielt converting a penalty at the end of the first quarter.
Gráinne McNicholl was brilliant in defence for John A Mullan’s side who trailed by five (1-8 to 1-3) at the interval.
The champions moved through the gears after the restart, however, with Síle Burns hitting two goals and Jenny O’Leary also raising a green flag.
Mullan introduced his full complement of substitutes as he continues to get as many players accustomed to top level camogie ahead of a maiden senior championship campaign.
Cork kept the foot on the throttle and O’Leary, White, Orla Cotter, Katrina Mackey and the excellent Briege Corkery were amongst the point-scorers as they strolled to a comfortable win.
Kilkenny also confirmed their place in the last four after defeating Offaly (2-13 to 0-10) in Lisdowney.
Ann Dalton had seven points from placed balls while Edwina Keane and Denise Gaule impressed while the goals came from Mairéad Power and Áine Fahey.
The Faithful were overly reliant on Elaine Dermody who scored nine points from frees with Siobhán Flannery landing their only score from play.
