Clare native Simon Moroney has confirmed he is stepping down as chairman of the GAA’s Central Competitions Control Committee (CCCC).

Moroney has also strongly hinted that he will be continuing in his new position as Munster Council chief executive beyond September, following the recent departure of former incumbent Pat Fitzgerald.

Moroney, who served as chief executive before Fitzgerald, was revealed as Fitzgerald’s replacement after the Limerick native stepped down suddenly earlier this month.
