Rival was told abuse me, says Wexford star
Admitting he has experienced such comments as far back as he can remember, the Sarsfields man recalled the incident, a separate one to that which saw two Duffry Rovers footballers suspended for making comments towards him earlier this year.
âWhoever was on their line was telling one (player) to get inside my head and he did mention a few things to me and he abused me on that day,â he told Newstalkâs Off The Ball.
âI got a bit angry with it and whatever way I brought it into my game, after a while the referee asked me to calm it down.
âAt half-time, he asked me if I was okay. There was nothing wrong with me but he asked me to calm down.
âI told him, âlook, there are lads there on the line telling one of these players to abuse meâ.â
Chin has never reported any incidents because of his discomfort at nature of the remarks directed towards him. âItâs something I was very embarrassed to go and tell someone what I had been called. It was an embarrassing thing to say to people. I knew it was very ignorant of people to say it to me.â
Chin also recalled being racially abused while watching Sarsfields play as a spectator.
âI was watching my local club play and another guy was watching his club play and an argument broke out on the sideline and he basically told me what he thought of me and called me every name what he could think of, abused me and told me to go back to where I came from.â
Chin said he has not yet received racial abuse at senior inter-county level but has endured it at minor and U21.
The Wexford County Board are proposing that racial abuse be an automatic red card offence.
Meanwhile, Hunky Dorys are Tyroneâs new sponsors for the next two years in a six-figure deal. Meath secured the backing ofTayto last month while Cork, Kildare, Down and Louth have yet to secure a sponsor for 2013.
