Tribe’s Faherty riled by Twitter critic

Donegal’s Mark McHugh and Galway goalkeeper Adrian Faherty were involved in a heated Twitter debate about the latter’s defeat to Antrim on Saturday.

Tribe’s Faherty riled by Twitter critic

McHugh had tweeted: “Great win for Antrim today! But what about Galway, they haven’t won a championship game against a team outside Connacht in 9 years!”

Faherty came back: “wat Donegal do from 1993 to 2011?? ?#greatmanchirpin”

McHugh’s initial response to Faherty was indignant: “well it’s true! Not my fault! Terrible result for you lot!”

However, he then acknowledged Donegal’s lean years: “We did nothing...! I’m just saying for a county with such good footballing tradition is a shame! I’d live to see yas do well bud [to Faherty]!”

Faherty’s team-mate Danny Cummins then waded into the conversation: “Last 5yrs in qualifiers we lost by a point each time!? We know the stats.. ?#stillfrends.”
