Ticket price tactic aims to boost attendances
A provincial Council meeting has been told that keenly priced packages will focus on club discounts and families. Tickets will also be available for purchase across more than 50 Centra and Supervalu stores across Munster. Details will be unveiled for clubs and counties in the coming weeks.
The benefit of incentivising ticket pricing was underlined by Council deputy CEO Enda McGuane who said a 33% discount was made available for advance purchase of tickets for the Munster U21 Football Final, with 564 people opting for €10 tickets, a €5 discount on the headline price.
McGuane also confirmed the Council recorded an increase in attendance for the Munster U21 FC for the fourth consecutive year.
Council delegates were told by chairman Sean Walsh that the national GAA policy has been that free admission is given to those U16 on the day of the match for non-ticketed games. Mr McGuane confirmed the attendance of 5,318 at the U21 football final included free entry of 1,150 U16s.
Meanwhile the death has taken place of former Kerry GAA treasurer, John McMahon. The Listowel Emmetts man served for over 25 years as treasurer of Kerry County Board. His kind, courteous personality endeared him to all. For many of those years he shared the job with the late Jimmy Coffey from Killorglin, and more recently with John Joe O’Carroll.
The former Bank of Ireland manager worked tirelessly behind the scenes keeping the financial affairs of Kerry County Board in order.
* Mr McMahon’s funeral arrangements are: Today (Monday) from 4.30-6.30pm from O’Carrolls Funeral Home, Listowel. Going to the Church in Listowel at 7pm. Mass tomorrow at 11am.
