Delighted Mary’s skipper not lost for words

TG4 cut into St Mary’s captain Conor McNamee’s expletive-ridden speech after Saturday’s Hogan Cup victory.

“I’m the proudest man in Ireland right now,” the youngster said at Croke Park. “I wouldn’t have believed it back at the start of September. We sat down around half eight one morning with Mr Costello and he said at the end of the year we’re aiming for a Hogan and we were all pretty f**ked after the weights. We thought we were delusional but here we are now, we f**king did it.

“The effort these boys put in has been immense. We’ve trained harder than ever before. We’ve been to Belvedere running up hills, pulling up sleighs, doing weights sessions four or five times a week. Every single one of ye deserve this, ye are the best team I ever played with, I f**king love every single one of ye.”
