And look who has yet to come back

Kerry captain Colm Cooper returned to county training last week and played his first club game since the All-Ireland semi-final guiding Dr Crokes to an impressive victory in the Kerry SFL Division 1 on Saturday.

And look who has yet to come back

“He will be back training this week,” said Jack O’Connor. “We are delighted. He has had a bit of a break and has played a couple of club games. He is raring to go. He was in the dressing-room there today.”

Cooper took a break from football following Crokes’ loss to Crossmaglen Rangers last month but the Kingdom captain was at his usual best in his side’s 0-22 to 0-7 victory away to Gneeveguilla on Saturday.

Scoring 0-8 from full-forward — and unusually wearing the number 14 as opposed to his iconic number 13 — Cooper was in top form, with Jamie Doolan (0-6) also impressing.

Meanwhile, Tom O’Sullivan — who has yet to signal whether he will play for Kerry this year — played a full game for Rathmore in their 2-8 to 0-12 win over Laune Rangers.

Goals from John Buckley and George O’Keeffe and five unanswered Rathmore points — including 0-4 from Donal O’Sullivan — dug out a home win.

Austin Stacks came from four down with four minutes left to snatch a 1-11 to 0-14 draw against Dingle. Inspired by their two Darragh O’Briens — one a goalkeeper who saved a penalty and the other a full-forward who scored 1-4 — Stacks clawed back a Dingle side that saw David, Paul and Mikey score all but one of their tally.

Elsewhere, Spa returned to the top flight with a high-scoring 3-10 to 2-9 victory over Ardfert — Anthony O’Sullivan, John Falvey and Cormac Cronin netting their goals. Kerins O’Rahillys snatched a dramatic late win against Killarney Legion, 2-11 to 3-6, through a Giles O’Grady goal, while All-Ireland IFC champions Milltown/Castlemaine defeated St Michaels/Foilmore 3-8 to 3-7.
