Owens: O’Gorman brothers would be big loss

WATERFORD football manager John Owens has described the potential loss of Maurice and Thomas O’Gorman from the county football panel in favour of the Déise hurling squad as “a big disappointment”.

The O’Gorman brothers, who play for the Nire/Fourmilewater club in west Waterford, have both starred for the Munster footballers in the interprovincial series and are two of Waterford’s best footballers.

However they are due to play in hurling trials for the Waterford senior hurlers over the coming weeks and Owens says if they break onto the hurling panel they will be a big loss to the football squad.
