Outside manager no problem for Molumphy

WATERFORD captain Stephen Molumphy says he has no preference whether Davy Fitzgerald’s successor is from the county or not.

The county board will this evening set in train the process to select the new manager. However, Molumphy is not concerned about the possibility of another outside boss as Waterford contemplate appointing their first native to the job since Tony Mansfield in the mid-90s.

“All the lads are concentrating on their clubs and the moment and I’ve only spoken to the lads who I’ve been playing against,” said the Ballyduff Upper man.

“We haven’t got together since the All-Ireland semi-final but Davy has left things in good shape. I don’t really mind where the next manager is from. It’s up to the county board to decide that. We have no input into it whatsoever.”

Meanwhile, Molumphy will be available to the new manager next year but is likely to be ruled out of large part of the 2013 season due to work commitments with the army.
