Kerry hoping to announce new sponsors by end of the month

KERRY GAA chiefs are confident of securing a new sponsor for their county football and hurling championships by the end of this month.

Kingdom officials have been on the hunt for a new sponsor since AIB announced in November that they were discontinuing their 22-year arrangement due to the worsening banking crisis.

But chairman Jerome Conway has revealed that they have identified a number of potential candidates interested in coming on board.

“We’d be very hopeful we’d be able to have it completed and something in place by the end of this month, and at the latest during the early part of February. I can’t reveal the finances that we’re talking about but certainly we don’t think that there’s going to be a huge reduction in the amount of money we were receiving from AIB. It demonstrates the level of prestige that they carry.”
