GPA go solo with awards scheme for another year

THE GPA’s Gaelic Player Awards will go ahead this year — although it is likely to be the last of the scheme in its current format.

However, a Croke Park source yesterday confirmed there will be no movement on a possible merger of the schemes until 2012 as the GPA will honour the last year of their sponsorship deal with Opel.
