TIPPERARY’S GAA presidential candidate Con Hogan last night defended his suggestion for the provision of payments to inter-county managers in a “super coach” role similar to the one given to John Evans in the Premier County earlier this year.

The Tipperary County Board had to withdraw their full-time job offer of director of football to Kerry native Evans after Croke Park ruled it was out of order.

However, Hogan now feels that the Association has to look into the possibility of paving the way for such appointments to be made as a means of curbing illegitimate payments to managers.
