Tompkins, who had not managed a team since stepping down from the Cork job in 2003 is to take charge of Mitchelstown, who were crowned North Cork JAFC champions this season.
“I was approached a couple of weeks ago by Gary Coleman, the new chairman up there,” Tompkins explained.
