And he has hinted that Croke Park may reduce the number of championship matches on television from approximately 50 down to 40.
He said: “I think we probably have reached saturation point. The current TV deal runs until after the leagues next year. Beyond that in deciding the next deal, there may be a case for a small reduction in the championship games covered – but nothing drastic.”
Duffy also called on county managers to cease imposing media bans which he believes are detrimental to promoting gaelic games.
“We need players to be out there in the media, but they are amateur players and they are free to say no if they wish. But the growing pattern of media bans is not helpful. It’s a negative for the Association if players cannot speak to the media and the games can’t be promoted.’’
