The heat rose for two learner drivers in Waterford recently when their vehicles were seized by gardaí.

Members attached to Tramore Garda Station were carrying out a checkpoint during the recent extremely warm spell when they observed two unaccompanied learner drivers.

In an online post, the Gardaí noted: "Although it was a lovely day for a drive, you must have a licenced driver with you if you are a learner driver."

"Two drivers had their cars seized today under Section 41 RTA," stated the Gardaí in their post.

"Court proceedings to follow," they added, before reminding motorists to "know the law, don't take the risk".
