Meath boosted by Fay decision
Fay made his county debut 11 years ago and has won three Leinster titles, the 1996 and ‘99 All-Irelands and is also a former All-Star.
Although he retired ahead of the 2006 season, he was persuaded to return to the fold last year by Colm Coyle when the Seneschalstown clubman took over as manager from Eamonn Barry.
The Trim defender was a cornerstone of Meath’s success this season when the county defied all pre-season expectations by taking Dublin to a replay in Leinster before reaching the All-Ireland semi-final.
Fay was presented with a special award for making 50 championship appearances prior to yesterday’s county final between Navan O’Mahonys and Seneschalstown.
